Anything Interesting for 2005 Lincolns?

I got a $25 box of new pennies from the bank (they're all 2005). Are there any interesting errors or varieties that you know of for 2005 Lincoln cents?

  • Some of the 2005 Lincoln cents look like CAM proofs that look like they could grade MS DMPL or PL at NGC. I have found a few that are really close, but I have yet to find one with a reverse die that is totally polished in the fields. There is always a rough area just under the Lincoln memorial. Also, the devices on the obverse have a little bit of weakness in the frost on Lincoln's lapel. I think it would be pretty cool to get one holdered as MS DMPL by the NGC.

Forget the errors…look at the POP reports for the 2005 non satin business strikes. If you have non satins that can grade MS 67 or better at PCGS , you will make some money. A MS 67 2005 P went for $80 on Teletrade last week while a MS 67 2005 D hit pay dirt on EBay at $249!
