(edited) Buffalo nickel toner -- new pix at end

Off the beaten path for me anyway. It's certainly dark, but not like a dug coin. Toning seems to be more uncommon with Buffs. Is it as much in vogue in some Buff collecting circles as with Morgans, mercs, etc? Is it perceived as damage to the extent it would affect the grade? It's mark-free and pretty well struck up. Thanks in advance.

  • Nice toner. It reminds me of a bag toner.

I was just going to say what Jeremy said. The colors, especially the blues, lead me to believe the coin is AT or at least was helped along. The coin has an exceptional strike for the type, however, 1913 is commonly found well struck.

  • The toning appears questionable, IMO.

It's AT so it won't grade. image Splotchy Purple - Gold - Blue = AT.

Looks like an album keeper to me...........Jeremy may be right...but in an old type album and given a few years...who cares???????

I like the strike and the color. I can't tell if it is AT or not, though.

The coin looks a lot more original now. Still a tad dark, but the luster is unaffected. What the heck...nothing to lose and a fun experiment.
