Toned coins

Hey, I just tried a few searches to see if you guys have ever discussed chemically toning coins and didn't see any posts. I hope this is not a repost.
As a new collector with a particular fondness for toned coins I was bummed to see a guy on the bay selling a toning chemical kit to alter the color of the coins(five per kit so he says). So now I have to wonder how I will be able to determine whether mine have a wonderful old patina from age or if some dude just used one of these kits.
My questions to you experts/numismatist is how can you tell the difference and does it change the value in the market?
I would assume the value is based on each collector as I know I would rather have natural than fake(in more things than coins at that).
Thanks in advance,
Leevee

<< <i>If your coins are certified by PCGS or NGC theres a good chance that they have legitimate original toning. Some coins are blatantly artificial, others are borderline, and some are just plain obviously natural. Pictures would help. >>
Unless a former grader has a good story and walks it over himself!!
Sorry, couldn't resist that big target!
Thanks again,

<< <i>Thanks, the link to the old thread was great. I guess I didn't search very well.

You may want to search on the term AT (possibly overly broad), or "artificially toned". I've seen that term used much more frequently than "chemically toned".
