I was trying to find a mintage on the silver version of The Last Franc and came across this document, I found it really interesting, it goes into the thoughts behind the design, production, and release of a mint product. This paper is held on a website related to the Mint Directors Conference from 2004.

Maybe you have to have held one of these coins to appreciate the design, but I think you can appreciate the ideas here without knowing the coin itself.

I have one too, but mine has started to tone in an ugly fashion in the dip area.

Mine is in an air-tite, and has stayed just like it was when I got it.

Interesting that the creator of the coin anticipated chem reaction (toning) and considered this a part of the active "life" of the coin itself !

what type of airtite fits a coin this thick ?!?

It is in a regular 34mm Air tite that is just not quite closed. If you squeeze on itthe plastic goes down, the last 1/2 mm. I just pulled it out, and the coin has not toned at all.

I really do like it, and widsh I had bought more of them.
