1990 Fleer All Pro insert variations?

I recently purchased a complete set of 1990 Fleer football All Pro inserts. Anyways, the cards look rather unusual. The grey portion of the card seems to have a strange feeling texture, while the image and text on the card are somewhat glossy. I compared the cards in this set to a few of the All Pro cards I recently busted out of a box of packs, and the ones that I recently pulled don't have the same textured surface.
Anyone know anything about this variation?
It sorta remindes me of the 1989 Donruss black l/r border variation.
