Welcome aboard. There is some interest in toned coins but these would
probably have to be choice unc coins to realize a premium. These coins
are nearly as scarce in high grades as other coins from that era.
    Tempus fugit.

Coin pics are one of our favorites around here.
  • Bicentennial quarters are cool, here's a secret:
you can pick up original bank rolls of them for next to nothing

not sure how long that will last image

  • unfortunately the camera that i have sucks badly, if i use the flash you cant see it and if i dont use the flash its way to dark. ill try to get some pic with-in the week. So are these coins worth anything? i also found an sba dollar that had the same finish just lighter.
  • It is comes down to this... "Whats my car worth?" No Pics needed, just a value. Without pictures it is impossible to say what it would be worth. Post pics and we can help you
  • the Bicentennials do bring back some memories from childhood. I remember telling the local grocery store to hold all the 1976's he came across...of course growing up in Brooklyn also meant he was robbed every other week and didnt have many for me....But still it was pretty cool when those came out and the big ships sailing into NYC for the 4th.... image

I had sooo many of those hoarded at one time that I plucked from circulation. I finally realized that I should spend them... image
  • If you pulled them from circulation, they're worth face ALTHOUGH... you can probably find someone or another (after you spend some time) to give you more... maybe.

I got 2 in change this past week; both still had traces of luster...

I think the DCAM proof are beautiful looking.
    I listen to your voice like it was music, [ y o u ' r e ] the song I want to know.

I'd give you the world, just because...

Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.

Turn off the flash and use extra supplimental lighting. If it has a manual exposure setting, try legthening the exposure time. Keep in mind that the type of lights will also have an effect on your results. Incandesants tend to be higher in reds and yellows, flouresents are richer in blues. Also incandesents, especially non-frosted bulbs, will show off the lustre better but will also highlight marks and hairlines. Flouresents will help hide contact marks but the coins will tend to have a washed out appearance.

Personally I always liked using two lights, one at a low angle coming in from around 3 o'clock to increase contrast. And the other higher up coming in from around 11 o'clock to soften the shadows cast by he first light.

As to your photos. Try outside. Put the coin on a dark surface to avoid background reflectants from dominating. A bar-b-que grill is OK but make sure not being used. If you have a dark car, relatives or neighbors dark car, place on the hood or trunk and take the photos. Try not taking in direct sun light but on cloudy days or in a slight shadowy area.
As to those quarters, I to used to hoard them. One friend of mine had thousands of them. We all ended up taking them to a bank. No value. To many saved by to many.

I'm often suspicious of toned clad coins. Still, I would love to see the color you mention if you can image it.
