Stone Mountain Question

I am starting to look at commemoratives on Ebay. It seems like I remember reading that there is a Stone Mountain doubled die. Is it obverse or reverse? Also, am I correct that it usually does not command a premium? Thanks.

  • If I am not mistaken, it comes in both obverse and reverse varieties. It does not command a premium.

I have one graded ny NGC that is DD on the obverse and one by PGCS that is the same. Neither are noted on the slab as being double dies.

Not much premium on the Stone Mountain DD. The Stone Mountain is so readily available that I would suggest you hold out for a totally PQ example. They are about the most common Classic Commem.

It can best be seen in the motto IGWT.
