Seriously, with all their positive feedback, I am not at all concerned with such a small number of unhappy customers. The world is full of people that will never be happy.
I do hope that Heritage dramatically improves their picture taking efforts.
I second that!

OUCH! On their E-Bay site.
I think they do a great job with the pictures on their website. You can pan and zoom in on coin wich is great! Not every picture will always be perfect. I think the people complaining should try imaging 3,000 coins a week and then let the board critique every one. There are so many dirtball bidders on ebay, its no surprise about the negatives. They are unavoidable with that amount of sales. I have not purchased from them yet, but spend a lot of time on their website and think they do an outstanding job. I ill purchase from them in the future.
<< <i>A lot of their neg feedback is from ebay bidders who lost out to floor bidders in the sig sales, they didn't understand how the real auction works. Attending one of these sales in person, and you see all the advantages the attending dealers get, such as:

allowing less than full-increment bids ("cut bids")
etc >>
Did you bother to read the list?
the vast majority was due to poor cutomer service and incredibly slow shipping.
These are from people who actually won a "real auction".

This is the reason I stay away from them.

You sure as Hell can't please them if you jerk them around for two months after you have their money.
Trying your best to please your cutomers DOES NOT doom you to failure, quite the opposite in fact.
Have you ever owned a business that deals with the public?
Sorry, nothing personal meant, please don't take it as that. Just a counter to your statement which I find incredibly short sighted.

Tere were a lot of customer service complaints. I didn't keep a tally so I don't know if it wasa majority. But there were a lot of complaints as well from people who probably didn't understand how they could lose to floorbidders so easily who then though they got unfairly shafted.
I did noice one thing. Heritage does not leave retalitory negs or neutrals. They only leave positives. And apparently only for positives.

<< <i>Heritage offers the same coin for sale in many channels. A lot of their early negs were due to coins that sold elsewhere and didn't get timely removed from eBay and subsequently sold there as well.

Yes, you are correct.
But I've bought from you before and I know damn well that you wouldn't take my payment and then fiddle around for 8 weeks before sending me the coin.
Condor101 makes a great point as well, though. Not leaving retaliatory negs is a statement of character and I have to give them credit for that.

Deadhorse,
I think you read into my statement for something I did not say. I believe you personally have had a bad experience with them. If they held your money for 2 months then they certainly are not trying to do good business. Obviously they were not trying to please ALL their customers.
I have operated 2 businesses and I will reiterate. If I tried to make EVERYONE happy then I would have failed. It is impossible to please everyone ALL THE TIME. I also do not want ALL the business, just the GOOD business.
I am not endorsing Heritage or any other company, or saying you are a bad customer, just explaining the mind set of big business.

cohodk,
It's all good. I've owned three businesses myself, all dealing directly with the public and you're right in one regard. You can't please everyone because some people just thrive on whining no matter how hard you try to please, even if you give them more than they paid for.
You're right, trying to please everyone is an impossible task and in that regard you will fail. I was thinking more in terms of the business failing if you try to please everyone.
What I am saying it that with a carefree customer service attitude, you will lose those customers. In some cases that could be a costly mistake with regards to future sales.
I understand what you meant....now. I think you also understand what I meant as well.
Like I said, it's all good and I wasn't singling you out personally for criticism.
Thanks for the civil reply, it's appreciated.

They always send my lots in 2-3 days, usually by FEDEX.
They will let you post date a check at their sig sales by 14 days.
They let you pay by credit card (up to $10K).
They have people in customer service who will take care of any problems.
There's absolutely no reason to buy a Heritage coin via eBay.
