Just found on ebay. 1886-O VAM 1A Clashed E on Reverse. (I think)!

I think I just purchased a nice 1886-O Clashed E Morgan. The seller provided scans and explained they do not show the coin well. When I receive I will provide my own photos. The money was right. What are your thoughts. Do you see what I saw below the tail feathers.

My first gut reaction was, "I don't think so." And after looking at a couple of examples I have, I'm even more skeptical.

The "stuff" you're seeing should be more centered in the open area; closer to the wreath leaves than it is, versus being right next to the tailfeathers.

Of course, given my keen knack of being wrong, I could be totally off the mark on this one too... and I hope I am.

Yes, it looks like a 1A. I have several in various states. Yours appears to be a later, probably the double clash. They are differentiated by the clash between the left wing and the upper cluster on the right wreath. The first clash there (which is when the E transferred) is higher that the one you see in that image. The earlier one must also be there but is usually fainter. The number of clashes on the terminal state is phenomenal.

I already replied with a thumbs up, but here's some additional info. I was just checking out my 86-O 1A. Your coin matches mine in several areas.... date position, mint mark position, size/angle/location of the clash under Liberty's neck, clashes on the left and right wreath, angle and placement of the clashed E. All are identical. If you want a link to my 1A, let me know.
