Wow, results back from my 1878 8TF Vam 14-16 submission...TOP POP (1/0)

Wow, I should play the lotto this week. I wasn't expecting a BB on this coin but its a rare one and I was expecting the extra scrutiny. This is a POP 3 at PCGS with the closest coin an AU-58.

Congratusuckalations! I probably couldn't afford to keep it if it were mine. Very attractive. I hope it never gets in the hands of someone who strips it.

I hope so too. The originality is what makes this coin unusual. There are some nicely toned 8TFs out there but many of the harder to find varieties (like this one) don't come like this very often. Many of the ultra-rarities are impaired to a certain degree which is why the pops are low and with PCGSs standards...will stay that way. This is the nicest 14-16 I have ever handled. The obverse toning on this coin is awesome...much better than the pics show.

"This is the nicest 14-16 I have ever handled."

You mean you've handled more than one? Heck, I've only ever seen just one... which probably means my chances of ever owning one in any grade are slim and none.

    drool... drool

I had an ANACS 63DMPL years ago. Marks-wise it would have been a 64/65 but had been lightly cleaned so ANACS bumped it down a bit but didn't net grade it. That coin would have never crossed to PCGS. I had several coins in my collection like that but you can't be too chosey as they come up once in a blue moon for sale. You have to take what you can find.

A truly once in a lifetime score, even for an expert cherrypicker. Congradulations! You could afford a long Carribean Cruise if you sell it. Maybe even two or three.
