Hey guys, jumped over here from the metal detecting forum.
I have found a 1964 quarter that is larger than usual. I didn't notice it until I tried to put it in a quarter tube with other quarters, and
it wouldn't fit. Upon further exam, it appears that not only is it slightly larger than a normal quarter, but all of the lettering ect is
slightly larger as well.
Reeding is sharp and 100% intact ... Ruling out a broadstrike ?
Rather than rehash, I'll just post the link to the topic in the MD forum, and hopefully one of you experts can give me a clue on
just what kind of circumstances could produce a coin like this.

There have been other coins that have been sujected to post-mint abuse including
Taking a common coin, covering it, then hammering it to a larger size.
This coin hints to this, as the peripheral lettering seems to be slightly "flattened"
Well........you asked for opinions.........I could be wrong
Hope this helps..........
