A couple of early Lincolns that I like.

I like the 1916 because it has a very cool surface similar to a matte proof. I like the 1919-D because the mint really knew how to strike them that year. The reverses on both are unremarkable.

  • I like the 16 myself, as it is the weakest dated coin in my Whitman Lincoln albums. Nice coins image

I've always loved the orange peel appearance seen on the surfaces of many of the early Lincolns. Add blazing luster and it's a visual feast!

1919 was indeed the good year. Not only did Denver do things right, but this is the year so many MS68's and even an MS69 was produced in Philadelphia. Super strike!

Is it me?, or is Russ taking a liking to Lincolns?

I like all coins. They're like women. It's all good, some is just better than others.

So true- put one of these early Lincoln's next to the crap they are making today---- what a difference.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • Nice coins! I have a 19-d with a strike like that. You can find a picture here. I'm going for all 12 coins 1916-1919 with full beard detail. I have 3 of the 4 S's like that. I sold my 16-s as it wasn't nice enough.
