Developing theory is what we are meant to do as academic researchers

    That thought never entered my mind. Why would anyone do that?

    New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    I've never received a brass farthing from CU, but I have gotten a little business from a few of the members.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    I think we're all way too jaded to allow blatant payola on the boards. One of us would see through it in an instant and the poster would get raked over the coals.

    Paid poster: Check out this new coin I got from Worship Coins!
    Coin collector: Wow, did you pick it because of it's great luster?
    Paid poster: Dunno, but Worship Coins is great!
    Coin collector: I see it's a condition rarity as well.
    Paid poster: Wouldn't know about that, but it's a coin from Worship Coins, and that's rare enough for me!

    I like to post stories about Buffalo Nickels, and coin history for everyone here to enjoy.

    I ain't no expert.........but peeps here seem to like them.

    I get paid for the stories I write, and comments I make.....

    My payment consists of the "Thank You", "Good Job", and "I didn't know that" replies
    I receive.

    This Hobby is for everyone......If I can contribute to that......GREAT!

    I've even learned more from the replies to my posts - as an addition to things that I have written - That I consider "Priceless".

    When it comes to getting paid, it seems that it is my name on the "signature line" of the check corresponding with CU... not on the "pay to the order of" line.
