White really shows the toning contrast. The black makes the edge of the coin blend in to the photo.

White background and I think I like the coin but am not certain how much light was poured onto it. It looks like quite a bit of light was used to generate the image.

I like the black background, my eyes seem drawn more to the center of the coin in the black background, whereas the white tends to make my eyes just lose focus on the details.....MHO
