should I take the offer?

I was offered this for $455. What do you guys think the grade is, does it look altered and do you think its worth the money?

  • I'll leave it to the Morgan experts to say whether it's worth the money. My question would be, why don't the obverse and reverse pictures match? Different-sized images, different lighting conditions.... There's something not good about that in my eyes.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

XF40, cleaned, net F12. If you seriously considered buying this coin at the stated price you need to step back, and learn to grade before you spend another cent on coins.

No, the coin is worth no where near that much money, or even a tenth of that much. I would stick to PCGS graded coins until you become more familiar with cleaning and grading.

    Heck no!

Last I knew, in a 1901(P) Morgan, that kind of money ought to get you a really, really nice AU55.

That coin there stinks. In terms of wear it is XF, and it looks like it has been messed with on top of messed with on top of messed with.

At least you asked first. Some folks buy first and ask later, then get mad because they screwed up. I would pass on this coin, too, unless it was a VAM 3 (DDR,Shifted Eagle), which this one is not. Even then, the price would be a tad too high. You can buy a nice VF for around $45.00 or so.

It was worth about $80 before the cleaning.

If you have $455 to spend, you can get a very nice AU in a PCGS or NGC holder.
    When in doubt, don't.
