I recognise a couple of names from eBay and the CNA shows.

    Hope this helps.

  • I go to Montreal 4 or 5 times a year, but I don’t have too much time for the Coin Shops. My daughter, who lives there, is not too thrilled spending time looking at coins.

First, most of them speak very limited English, so practice your French. I do speak French, but when some term comes up that I don’t know in French, they usually don’t know an English translation.

Second, call ahead, most of the Coin Shops have very strange hours or days they are open, and some are there for appointments only.

Third, as you would expect, most of the stores have lots of Canadian coins, a few American, and not much from the Darkside. When you call, find out what sort of things they have in stock, and you may save yourself a lot of time.

Most of all enjoy Montreal. It is a beautiful city with many great restaurants and lots to see & do. I will be there again in early May, and I look forward to going there every time. I lived there for 10 years, and I feel very comfortable there.

There are a couple new ones on the Montreal list that I will need to look at on my next trip.

    Good Luck,
