Guess the grade??? Opinions appreciated on this coin

Better pics to come later but these are not bad in terms of showing the essence of the coin. This is the lowest mintage of all of the Arkansas dates and they are EXTREMELY difficult to find with any eye-appeal. Guess the grade, and feedback would be welcome on this coin.image

Things to point out on this 1939-S Arkansas: The luster is must stronger in-hand and the scratches at the top and bottom of the reverse are on the holder, not on the coin.

You say the luster is good. From the pictures, I think PCGS gave this lovely coin at least MS66. I can't see any marks under all that rust.image

John another fantastic example. This one will match very well with the other "beauties" in your collection. I see a familiar color scheme here. Looks 67 to me.image

  • Learning to admire sharp Commeratives and this Arkansas is well struck with only minimal tics on the rims and the upper obverse device, that I can see anyway. I like MS67, could be an 8 in PCGS's generous era or a 6 when they are strict? If in a 6 holder, I would resub and resub but that's just my very humble opinion as a novice with these ancient coins........ Rob

Hey Dizz, I never really liked the Arkansas commem- it just never did anything for me---BUT --- I like this oneimage MS66, but I could see that in a 7 holder if it wouldn't throw off the books so much.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
