Doesn't look proof like to me, and doesn't look 64- you can find a million others that are better looking......

  • The pics aren't up to determing whether the luster is real or not. I'd not exceed MS63 in opinion; perhaps lower depending on the true nature of the cheek. The neck has seen better days, also.

Hard to grade from those pics. He states all auctions are final with no returns, that is a big red flag to me.

62ish... crummy pic to grade from, but it certainly doesnt look 64.

I don't think I'd trust any statement from a seller who would say an 1881-S Morgan is "SUPER HARD TO GET".

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • DO NOT BUY. I can assure you it is not MS-64.
  • A 62 at best--pretty beat up for an 81-s. You can do MUCH better. Wait until you see an actual ms64 81-S. I guarantee it will be worth spending a little more time and money on.

That is not a super hard to get coin....for the grade to be 64..that needs a lot.

BTW....wasn't this guy a troll here a while back? Part of the SGS fiasco???

Yeah, I think people have zero credibility when they say things like "key date" or "rare" for an 1881-s or 1883-o.... image

  • Does everyone realize this is the same seller he lists as himself
in the B/S/T when he sells?image
  • This is MS-64

  • i think you would need better, larger pics to accurately guess the grade.... what gets me is the $5.95 for first class..... ? .shipping... wringing some extra dough from the bidder... Maybe for Priority....
plus insurance, tracking, none of that's included for your $5.95...

arent you hawking this coin on the BST? i noticed at least two posts for two different items....

  • It's hard to tell because it's in a case, but I'd say pass on it.

    1) The seller doesn't take returns.
    2) There are a lot of dings.
    3) Ms. Liberty looks like she was in a barfight -- and she didn't fare well.
    4) It's hard to tell because the case might be dirty, but there's an awful lot of crap in the fields, and the fields look too reflective to me. I'm shining my light on a Morgan I've got, and the reflection doesn't look like that.

    PASS.

If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

  • I don't get what you mean by hawking, I asked for opinions on the BST because I didn't know what forum I would get the most advice from.

But I do thank you for your help on determining if I want to buy the coin. Don't know much about grading.TY

Hi forum friends, I would like to buy this coin and maybe send it in, the seller states Ms 64+ what do you all think. Give me a grade, I know most of you don't need commons so help me out. TY (ebay auction ends today #8399995965)

I don't get what you mean by hawking, I asked for opinions on the BST because I didn't know what forum I would get the most advice from.

It is disingenuous to pretend to be interested in buying a coin on ebay, as you did in the OP, to get more eyeballs on the coin, when the coin turns out to be your own. In this case, the plan backfired. Everyone thought the coin was a dog, and the listing was poorly conceived.

    Strike two!

(We also remember the PCGS MS-68 GA 25c image )
  • I do own a 1999 D ms pcgs 68 quarter and I bought the ngc 67 Georgia quarter from the seller Discount-Guy Off line.

It goes to show you that some people on here don't want to help but to judge. Strike 2 my azz. Some of you are complete idiots. Many Snakes on this forum not to help but to bite and snipe. TY

What? The OP is the seller of the coin? You should be ashamed for lying. image

  • I don't see the proof that BrokenArrow (from this forum) is the same as discount-guy (on eBay).

Just for the record, I am numonebuyer on every location that I use that has a login (that allows me to use it).

Comes on.....no profile. Likes to talk a lot with little to back it up.
Seemingly hawking himself as a different person (shilling basically).

At least, if you want to sell and use the forums here to promote it, do it the right way and use the BST to sell and the US Coin Forum to learn/help out.

Certainly seems to edit out his posts a lot lately as well........this one now says "I quit"......no loss.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I received a PM from someone suggesting I could have been hasty in my conclusion. In this BST thread you started, you referenced a discount-guy ebay auction and offered free shipping to forum members. That offer wasn't in the auction itself. That's what made me think the OP was discount-guy on ebay, because I don't know how you could make such an offer without being the seller.

    Am I wrong?

At one time you said it was an 1999 P, not a D.

  • Aside from the interesting observations above the following statement from the auction contradicts itself:

<<PROOF LIKE MIRRORS, SUPER CARTWHEEL REFLECTIONS>>

Any numismatist knows proof like fields reflect like a mirror so there is no cartwheel luster on coins with mirror like fields. But what do you expect from a seller who thinks an 1881-S is a key date?

Upon further review, it is possible that BrokenArrow is NOT discount-guy. He seems to be promoting discount-guy's auctions on the BST thread, but frankly, the diction is so garbled that it is difficult to tell. He has since edited the OP, so we will never know.

His query in the OP here was certainly inconsistent with him being discount-guy. If, in fact, BrokenArrow is not discount-guy, image I apologize to him for jumping to the conclusion that he was, which was certainly supported by the information available at the time. I would also suggest he work on his diction, so people can tell what the heck he is talking about.

His query in the OP here was certainly inconsistent with him being discount-guy.

It looked like he was trying to help hawk a coin for someone else, while having a "gee, what do all my friends here think of this one?"........ so I don't think RYK needs to apologize too much...

Does anybody remember DiscountGuy on this forum? He sign off that he was leaving 01/15/06 after losing a few "Battle of Words" with Russ and others. Now we have BrokenArrow who joined in Feb 2006? Is Broken Arrow an A.K.A. for DiscountGuy? If someone needs help remembering DiscountGuy, here are a few links. Enjoy.
