General Proof DCAM Ike question

I`m wondering, is the 1978 - S typically the year with the heaviest frost? I`ve looked at pictures of Proof Ikes off and on and seems like some years have a thin veil of frost and other years seems to be heavier. Any thoughts/opinions about that?

Absolutely. Also, the 1971(s) and 1972(s) can come with spectacular super heavy frost. And, some 73(s), 74(s) and 76(s) silvers can come amazing as well. Beyond that the other (5) coins (with the possible exception of 76(s) Ty 2 which can come spectacular as far as clads go) are scarce to locate in true "monster" DCAM PR69 from what I have seen (and I have sold more than 4,500 PCGS-PR69DCAM Ikes in the past 6 months).

There are also some really nice 71-S Silvers out there as well, but they are no where near as common as the 78. Virtually all 78's are super heavy DCAM's.
The silvers are next easiest to find.
The clads pretty much go in date order, the earliest being the toughest, with the possible exception of the 76 Type I which is jsut as tough as the 73-S Clad in Super Heavy DCAM. The best 73-77 will never match the best 78.
On the Silvers It's not too aweful hard to find a matched set of super heavy DCAM's.
You can put all these together your self, or seek out an Ike expert.....wonder who that could be!!!

Thanks for the replies! I have a 71 - S, 78 - S, and the 76 - S trio ( Silver, TY1, and TY2 ). The scans are two of the ones I have. I`ve taken my time to complete the set; not that there is a time limit to finish. I have a soft spot for Proof Ikes and the information you guys gave me is of alot of help!
