1969 O-Pee-Chee Deckle cards...need info.

Dont know if this topic has come up before? Just wondering about a small mark on EVERY OPC Deckle card I have. I have purchased several over the last few months and all have a mark on the front. I was told by a dealer at a local show that this was a common occurance with this issue and that the mark was from the printing press when it was spitting out the cards??? Anyone know if this is the case. My cards are from several different sources and bought at different times, and all have this mark. Any info would be helpful. Thanks-Claude ps: I have a bunch of Topps Deckles and none have the mark???

I was just about to tell you that my cards don't have the mark when I tilted the sheet just right and there it was. Looks like a 1/2 inch (staple sized) mark about 3/4 of an inch below the top of the card and centered (running horizontally). A little over half of my cards have it:

    Curt Flood
    Bob Gibson
    Tom Haller (1/4 inch)
    Ken Harrelson (1/4 inch)
    Tommy Helms
    Willie Horton
    Willie McCovey (1/4 inch)
    Willie Mays
    John "Boog" Powell
    Ron Santo
    Mel Stottlemyre
    Luis Tiant
    Maurie Wills
    Carl Yastrzemski

Interesting and quite a bit of a surprise. Any idea what caused it?

I'm not sure??? Just wonder if the other suggestions was correct...something to do with the printing press and how the cards came off the press??? Any one able to help out on this???? Also, if they all have it, does PSA grade consider it when grading?? (I actually bought a few of them at a card show and didn't notice the marks when I bout them...saw them later when I got them home!)

Yes - even if it is a 'typical' printing defect - the technical grade is still what it should be. There may be one or two examples out there that do not have that defect, first of all, and, secondly, it is sort of a non-issue, in that if the highest possible grade is a 5 - then if you have the 5, you can still have the 'nicest' set.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
