The realistic Economy turnaround time has been around 60 days for some time now.

Yeah, about 10 minutes.

The posted turnaround times are only an estimate. What's important is the amount of time that Economy submissions are actually taking to be finished.

Everyone got wise and is paying for the 15 day service which bumps economy out until there is a nice buffer on the 15 day loads. My last 15 day service took 40 days.

<< <i>Is that 60 business days or 60 real, human days? >>
I would assume business days, considering that the PCGS graders are unhuman.

Ive still got one not finished logged in on 1/9. May be 90 days actual time before I even get grades. Who knows. I know it is taking too long. At this rate, I might be dead or incompetent by the time the grades are in.

I have an Economy submission entered on 1/17/06 which isn't completed yet, so quit complaining.

<< <i>Time to raise grading fees again, to weed out those amatuer modern crap submissions. >>
Theoretically, we should have seen some improvement in processing times when the minimums for economy and modern went from five coins to 10 coins. Instead, the opposite happened.
I dropped off 3 Economy batches in person that went live in the system 1/24/06. I dropped off another Economy batch that went live 2/01/06. Some were raw coins; some were crossovers. All were Morgans.
One of the 1/24 batches posted grades March 8. The 2/01 batch posted grades March 23. Still no word on the other two 1/24 batches.
If anyone can make sense of this keen workflow strategy, please enlighten me.
I wonder if the experts from the pre 1930's end up grading moder coins also? It seems there are quite a few qualified modern graders out there, they should be hired and let the experts on older coins do their thing.
I am not saying that modern is easier, just that there are more modern collectors/graders available.

Can there really be any good excuse for these long delays? Not in my mind. PCGS has a very poor business model. If we ran our business like they do, we'd be out of business in a week. I'm in the Retail Business so I know how important Customer Service is. But, as long as we keep feeding the monster, it will eat. To those of you who will say: Take your business elsewhere then". That's my plan when my CC Membership ends in Sept. There are nice coins in NGC and ANACS holders. They cost less, sell for less, but your gain equals out in the end if you buy the PQ coins. I've got three coins in under the Grade Guarantee. Might be six months till I hear any response. Just not acceptable to me. All this is just my opinion. Some may not like it, that's ok. But, it is my opinion and I stand by it. I'll end my rant with a nice PCGS graded coin:

You should really call in everyday and bug them on this, there has got to be something wrong with this order. I had one take two months and I called just to find out there was a finance hold because my calculations were $20 less than thiers.
If they get them done in 60 days business days then there is nothing wrong with the service as this is quoted on their web site. If it takes longer then complain and they will usually accomodate by bumping it ahead. There are a few that get stuck for a long time but it usually only takes a few calls to get it back on track.

It is definititely not FIFO, as you would expect.
On Marty's submission page, some modern submissions posted in about 20 days, while others are at 45+!!

My last economy, logged on 2/2, was just posted this afternoon!
I don't know what you guys are complaining about?
<< <i>My last economy, logged on 2/2, was just posted this afternoon! >>
That can't be, since that's only 50 days. According to Laura Lite™, they've been taking 60 days for some time now.
Russ, NCNE
But if they say 60 days and it takes 75....well that isn't so bad right? You only waited an extra 15 instead of 30 (is what they are thinking).

Maybe that's part of their grading plan- they know most of you are getting up there in age.....
Time to raise grading fees again, to weed out those amatuer modern crap submissions.
But seriously, in this market, the longer TAT means your coins will be worth that much more when you finally do get them back.
Soon a BB'd Roosie will be more valuable than the grading fee!

I wonder if they lost a grader or two to the competition?
Are they still doing the gaurentee on the 15 day service where by you get free grading certificates if they are tardy?
