Very Impressed with people on this board

I have been in the card biz for about 15 years and really collecting for 25. Our hobby is riddled with bums, liars, and crooks. Since joining this board about 3 months ago I have developed a new opinion and attitude toward this hobby and buisness. The people I have dealt with on this board are great people. I asked for 1 common for a set that books 10 cents high book, and three people offer it up! I ask to buy a Cappaletti rookie for a friend for a gift and one member says "Ill send you two FREE". I asked for opinions on what to do with all my 89 ud that is dropping quicker than Bush's approval rating and 27 people respond, I mean anything I have posted has had positive results. I can't wait until I can return the favors.

THANKS, because of this board I am rethinking prior thoughts of just giving it all up again. In fact I have started building 72 and 78 sets because i know I can get some here and not worry about ebay bs.

Great people!

I agree. Now, if anyone has any 57 Mantles feel free to offer them up to me. image

In all seriousness this is a fine board and I applaud the people who come on here, even if I disagree with them from time to time.

I'm glad that that it is apparent that this board has a good reputation. As in any collectible's market, it is the buyers and sellers that either make it worthwhile or destroy it all together. And this board is a fantastic communication resource to try to rid the hobby of those very crooks, liars, and cheats. After all, reputation is everything.

    easydoesit,

I've had the same experience as you have on these boards. And truth be told, I would have probably given up on the hobby had I not stumbled upon here. The guys have been great with advice, both on and off topic, I've found great trade partners, I've gotten help with those tricky last cards for sets, and most important, I feel I'm not alone in my collecting "craze".

I'm glad you've enjoyed your stay.

And great signline. Your posts need more Cowbell!!!!!!

I'd have to agree with the unanimous consensus so far. I've made quite a few trades through these boards with absolutely no problems. I've developed some respect for quite a few of our fellow posters. It seems like the bad apples either have clammed up, moved on to other pastures or were banned(?!).

I appreciate knowing there are others WAAAY more crazy about cards and our sports idols than I am!

Keep up the good work y'all!

  • I just want to throw a big thumbs up and thank you as well to the members of this board. I've been reading the Beckett boards for a couple of years, but I just stumbled upon this site a few months ago and was completely blown away at the level of maturity and respect shown. This is a really delightful discussion forum.

Even though I have a small post count, I successfully made trades with the following people, who were tremendous in helping me work on my 2006 Heritage set:
Peetie, Magellan, ArchStanton, Wick70, Softparade. And I have one pending trade with 262runner. I can't say enough about the level of respect and class everyone has shown.

This is a great place. Thanks guys.

"easydoesit", I too have really had some great look with folks here on the boards. Very helpful indeed!

By the way, if you are starting the '72 Topps Baseball set, I've got a few extras in my eBay store, just look in there and pick one....for FREE! image Any of the ones that are listed at $9.99! You'd have to pay for the shipping ($3), but that's it. Always enjoy helping another collector out just like I've been helped in the past here on these boards.

I like this board too. One guy sent me a card for free because he knew I would like it. What class. Another guy made a PSA submission for me without any problems. I also had members offer me some 80's rookies for free as well. Very nice bunch and I don't forget a person's kindness... ever.

I too have tremendous respect for most of the guys here. It truely is a genuine group of people that shar a common passion. Even though we differ in exactly what we collect there is a mutual respect to listen and learn of others interests. I think that's what makes this place really cool.

However, because of that, many of you have cost me thousands of dollars bacause I need to see these issues first hand. image

Wouldn't that be the world record holding pandrews' line?
  • I have to chime in as well, as I have had nothing but positive interactions with folks on this board. Everyone goes over the top to help you out, whether it's just answering questions or sending me pics of cards I only dream about, or helping me out with questions on matte and displays. Thanks so much everyone!

Yes, even though some threads can end up in the toilet, most have been enjoyable reads and the knowlegde that each of us pass along to eachother has made collecting a more pleasant experience. I would also have to say if not for finding these boards, I would not be collecting as I am. Also it is a joy to see what others collect and purchase during their collecting endevors.
