Interesting info on self-slabbers

I have not seen some of this information before...it's from a website
opposing the slabbing of casino chips. But some of our coin self slabbers
are identified.

Excellent site - I read most of their rants. I agree with their philosophy. It would be nice to collect coins for the coin and not the slab. Or chips for the chip if that is your thing. But many collectors collect for investment purposes in addition to the joy of collecting. This is just one reason that the slab is king.

I particularly chuckle when I see comic books in "slabs" - above all other collectibles, this has to be the most unhobbylike practice. To take something that was made for the joy of reading and turn it into something that one can now only see the front and back cover, never again to be read is truly a crime!

Unfortunately, they are fighting a losing battle. There are too many who want the slabs. It is a status symbol. It is an icon of collectibles. I am afraid that slabs are here to stay.

If it is slabable, it will be slabbed!

My favorite is the guy who slabs his own coins, then says no returns on slabbed items as they are authenticated.
    I collect circulated U.S. silver
