What kind of Lincoln error is this?

Found this coin going through some old rolls of wheat cents. It has some kind of mark right through the "1" in "1936". The reason I think it is special is because the whole entire bottom half of the "1" is shifted over (better seen in magnification) implying that the mark was there before the coin was struck or something. Can anyone help?

It looks like a gash through the 1 going toward the rim. The bottom part of the 1 doesn't look shifted to me.

  • Its just an old scratch. Same on his shoulder. Probably happened soon after minting.
