There was a quick question about first and second place. I would like to see a first and second place with 2/3 of the graded cards going to the winner and the rest going to runner up. I think we would be able to use the honor system here. If somebody renegs, they probably don't want their name trashed all over the boards, along with their email address.
Cheers! Wick

1:1st, 2nd and 3rd prize....assuming everyone or close to everyone is in.......................at least a first and second prize if less then ten are in.

I agree. I think 3rd place should get one card/item 2nd get 3 and the winner take the rest.
Also, SMR is BS and we all complain about it. Something that has a market(eBay) value of $15-$20 I agree would be better. That is probably what was meant by the original $ fig, but it is good to clarify. I also know that some guys don't want to part with their cards so I would welcome some memorabelia(Hat/picture/poster/auto/ticket and others) I always like getting somethiing that I don't collect as a novelty.
I hope we can have a 2nd and 3rd place winner as I think it will keep the league a little more competitive to the end. People sometimes need something to play for even when they already got their arses handed to them.
If we have a 2nd and 3rd place winner, how do we go about getting them their prizes? Being that we are dealing with cards/memorabilia here how will we work it? Do we have it that first place will receive from members 1-8. 2nd gets it from 9-12 and 3rd gets from 13?
I'm not trying to make this difficult, just looking for clarification.
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

I agree with just about everything that was said.......prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. The idea about 1 card for 3rd, 3 for 2nd, and the rest for 1st sounds logical. I also think the honor system will work just fine, if you dont pay up well, good luck around these boards in the future. The fair market value is a better idea than SMR too. As for who gets what, I think we are all mature enough to figure that out when the time comes. If the winner prefers baseball, then we will all do our best to accomodate, if football, the same, and so on. If something isnt of the winners exact choice, well, they will still be getting something of value, just put it on ebay, sell, and use the $$ to get something you prefer.
"The other teams could make trouble for us if they win." -- Yogi Berra
Sounds good to me. Someone might have to coordinate who sends what - and to whom - but I'm sure we'll figure it out. For example, someone comes in third, they get one card. Who sends it?
Well, I guess I loose. No surprise since I just got my user name and password yesterday. I guess I'll be singing that popular song that the Cubs have been singing since 1908; wait til next year.
So are we sending all the cards/prizes to someone for safekeeping? If Softparade wants to be the prize holder thats fine with me. I say we send them to softy and let him keep a list of who has and who hasnt sent him prizes, This may obviously do away with personal preference of the prizes for winners but may cut down on confusion later, I personally dont have a preference of card or prize; anything i get i will be happy with.

Doesnt matter to me who gets em, who gets what, or anything. As long as we all agree Im fine. The only reason I said to wait until the end was so that cards would only have to be mailed out one time by us all, and we would be able to tailor what we send to the winners liking better. Im easy though, and since I set up the damn league I will let you all figure this end of it out !

I was shocked to see Cabrera get traded there - but it seems like a fair swap. This is indeed a fun league, and very much up in the air at this point...
On any given day my team is pushing between 4th and 9th place. Would be nice if my players would get it together and play consistently. I've been hit bad by the injury bug and the one guy that I thought would have a good season--Jeff Kent, is finally now getting things together after that beaning in the first week or so...

I think the problem is that there are a few teams with a glut of RPs and too many teams with the bare minimum. I've got two relievers, one of which pitches for the Royals (no offense Dallas).

1) $20 SMR sounds good, but will it be a winner take all or prizes for first, second, and third etc?
2) what will classify as the $20 SMR? Will it all be baseball? Certain years etc?
3) Honor system or will all 'prizes' be shipped to one person who holds onto them and doles them out at the end of the season?
We might as well lay it all out on the table now to avoid any future problems that may arise.
