Just bought my first classic GOLD coin

Ok, now I guess I'm a REAL coin collector. image

I have half my 7070 album full and just bought a 1912 Indian Quarter Eagle. I've bought modern gold bullion but this coin is just plain awesome. I can't afford highend stuff, but this is great for my price level.

    Well done!

  • Nothing like buying your first gold coin. I was lucky enough to find 2 of them at a garage sale mixed in with some wheaties. A 1913 Au-58, and 1926 MS-61 Quarter eagles! Nice coin.

  • Good for you. I saw a coin like it last week at a flea market but, the guy wanted $225 and I am not experienced enough to determine if it was real or not. Maybe, soon though as I'm really looking forward to buying my first gold coin also.

  • Nice coin!

Happen to come from eBay under the seller name "us.note" or something along that line? If so, he got me a great deal on a Large Coronet cent. Seems like the picture you posted looks like his.

    Raw gold on ebay?
  • I am in the same boat as you. Gold is not really in my price range. I've wanted to get 1 gold coin - just to have one. The one you got is the design I've always wanted. Perhaps someday I'll take the plunge and go for it, too. Congrats! I like it.

I got my first Indian gold on e-bay. Out of every 10 purchases 1 was counterfiet, the rest graded XF/AU so in the end I came out ahead once slabbed.

Suggest getting it authenticated. This series is very heavily counterfeited.

i suggest staying away from the seller with that red background.
oh sure, he had some nice coins for sale, but most were cleaned crap,
    especially the branch mints.

big rush of them on ebay all of a sudden. shill bidding left and right.

why did you not ask us for help in this decision?
that coin could very well be fake, cleaned so much it will not grade if you tried,
    etc...

the forum is here to help. now u get scolded.

we all do.. but try to learn from it.
  • This one came from vette1986(37597). I've bought from this seller before and it's all been good.
