anybody waiting on January's special?

I really didn't expect them graded by now( past experiences), i am planning for April 8th. But what amazes me is the countless postings of psa members who are getting their cards back quickly. PSA has failed to address this issue for a long time. There is no method to their madness. I have sent nice e-mails to Joe that have gone un-responsive. If i were an investor, i would pull my money out of this company just solely on customer service. Most Wall Street companies that hold stock get a grade based on Management leadership.
I would be curious as to what the number on Collector's U is. Most well run companies are over the 80 mark.

    Carew:

    An interesting question.

On one hand - why should you [or anybody else] care when you get your submission back - as long as PSA grades it within their contractually specified time?

On the other hand - I think many presume that PSA just easily works off of a FIFO-based system. They obviously do not, because of logistics, submission size, ease of submission [e.g. grading all 1990 Leaf cards, or a 100-card submission of esoteric and oddball cards that must be researched].

In either case - PSA has a very defensible position, in that they are returning your cards to you by the time they said they would. What is happening to other collectors, from a legal perspective, really doesn't matter one bit. Especially since all have the option to a quick turnaround if they are willing to submit at a higher level.

So I see your point and understand that you are unhappy - but I don't believe you can place a huge knock on PSA, as they have yet to fail to live up to their performance standard on your submission.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • I was waiting on a submission from 1/26 that I received this Monday. My Feb 6 submission was graded last night. I still have 3 more outstanding from early to mid Feb I'm waiting on. I know How you feel. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when they grade these cardsimage

As discussed numerous times in the past it seems that submissions with "odd-ball" items takes much longer. Right or wrong that seems to be the case. I should think you would either a) stop submitting odd-ball items with every submission or b) keep doing it but don't complain about it since you know what the turn around will be!? No offense to you or to odd ball items but it seems like a clear cut issue. I submit standard cards and they come back quickly. Once a year I send in some odd ball items and they take a while. Whenever they arrive it's fun to open them up! Good luck to you.
  • I've consistently had very rapid turnaround times. Just a theory, but maybe it has to do with the neatness of the submission? I always use the online forms and put stickers on the back of every card with the number printed off of my computer. Might have something to do with it?

I agree-- it appears to be all about the oddball issue. I have some 1994 Tombstone Discs there right now which PSA has never seen before (If I'm to believe the pop reports as of early Feb.) that I sent in with a couple other submissions that were filled with 'standard' cards. I got the other two submissions back last week, and the one with the discs apparently won't be finished until Mid-April.

My experience is always the same:

I sent in two sets of 1979 Burger King Phillies on one Set registry submission - it took about two weeks, tos.

I have another tallboy submission of esoteric, oddball Schmidt and other Phillies postcards, etc. It's been six weeks already - and I don't care. As long as they are done in the guaranteed time, and graded accurately, I am very happy to PSA for their continued services.

Nothing odd with my order. I have submitted the same type of cards and have received them from "quickly" to 45+ working days. Infact, the order i sent was basicly an upgrade from what i have previously sent in the past. There really is no contract with PSA on a "no time table for turnaround".
( Some) of the people in Customer Service answer the phone as though you are wasting their time by asking for a "patent" answer status of your order.
As a previous owner of a business, Customer Service is highly important. It reflects the attitude of the company. And right now there is a sour attitude there.
I have received great e-mails from Cosetta and Gayle that are employees there, but they are only a small part of wheel. You never wish anything bad on someone, but maybe a month of no submissions might wake them up over there and maybe they will start to listen to their client base.
