This coin does not belong to me. Please guess the PCGS grade, NGC grade, and approximate value.

    I'm not going to guess the grade since I don't know gold/denomination at all, but I will say that your subject was scary....thought you were mentioning a coin you bought from GregTheGreat (GTG) image

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    GTG=shorthand for "guess-the-grade"

    GregtheGreat has not posted to this forum in ages.

    I know he hasn't...that's why I was shocked.....heh image

    Ok....I will guess on a series I know NOTHING about..... AU53, AU55 and, ummmm, $17000? image

    Edited to adjust my value guess.........

    I would guess AU-58. It looks very nice, but still has a touch of a rub.

    Price? Too much for me, easily thousands.

    Weak strike. Poor pic. Can't evaluate the luster. May be AU 58 or MS61 0r 62 depending on the integrity and completeness of the luster.

  • NGC61 As for value : around $25k image

    It's an NGC-63 (graded two years ago), previously in a PCGS MS-62 holder (may have been graded quite a few years ago). The coin has a weak strike. As some have indicated, you cannot accurately grade a coin like this from a suboptimal Heritage photo...or any photo for that matter.

    I was going to say 63. Get lucky occasionally. Southern gold is tough stuff.

    That answers the grade question...what would you guess the approximate value of this coin would be?

    My guess would be $30-$35k. That is lower than what is estimated. I will view the coin in person in two weeks and add my in-hand impression to this thread at that time.
