It was probably a fine purchase. PCGS is usually brutal when they grade a potential top-pop piece like that. Based upon other similar S-Mint $5s (PCGS Pop=1/0) I have handled, I would guess it is probably closer to a 65 than a 64. Based upon the raw 78-S $5 (which was a lock 65) that brought $13,500 + the juice this month, somebody must be buying pop 1/0 PCGS S-Mint $5s.

i would never stretch for that date.
reason it hammered for what it did.
it gave someone confidence.. when in reality.. it may very well
have been a bad purchase unles you have viewed several ms63s...
