Yes... best way to spot them is get a common green bordered 1989 score football card and compare them side by side. A couterfeit aikman will probably have a slightly different card stock, less quality photo and may be off size a bit. post a scan if you want me to look at it.
Always collecting vintage basketball and any ABA memorabilia.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
Here's the pic. I included a Sanders card that I pulled from a pack back in 89 as a "known good" comparason.
I went over it with a 10x loupe, and I'd venture to say that it's likely authentic, just faded. The back looks fine, uncharacteristic of the things they say to look for in counterfeit cards. For example, the words within the "NFLPA" logo being clear and crisp.
It looks good to me... Keep in mind. Almost ALL counterfeits were made poorly... Very few exceptions. If you are an advanced collector, it is usually very easy to determine real from fake cards.

If you have a 10x loupe, just look at the SCORE logo on the front and the red star. If they are made up of little dots, it's fake...if it's solid, then you're probably good. You can also look at the black lines that outline the cowboys helmet, same thing...little dots=no good.
Yeah, I went over the Aikman with the 10x lighted loupe I picked up a while back (it really changes the way you look at your collection). I compared it to the Sanders, and asside from the faded apperance, the card checks out in all the fine detail areas.
