50 state quarter preferences?

AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
I am brand new to this part of the forum, and I thought I'd get people's opinions on what their preferences are for collecting the 50 state quarters?

I am looking at the US mint's website, and I see the 'greetings from america' portfolio series, but wonder if there are better options out there?

I got all sorts. I got a quarterboard (the one from the Mint), rolls, proof sets (regular and silver), and slabs. Lots of quarters...

Yeah that Mint board is the best I have seen in a long time. Got two boards and a Dansco.

My favorite way is to seek out the nicest coins in pocket change and rolls. I've got almost
all of them in MS-63/4 with only a few higher or lower but they are all unc.

There are several varieties but I've yet to find one.
    Tempus fugit.
  • If you want nice unc. examples you could buy mint sets. Get the 1999 thru 2005 sets off EBay (check the BST too), and buy the 2006 thru 2008 sets from the mint when they come out.

The Silver Quarters are the best Axtell..........If your gonna go back to the begining it's gonna cost you big time...........
I don't know what you have been collecting but the quarters have been out for a while.........since 1999.........image

  • I just bought my 2006 Clad ANNUAL MINT (10 coins) set online at the U.S. Mint. It just became available. They still have Clad and Silver proof sets of just the quarters available. So get the new ones, then start getting the older ones.

I haven't bought any, but the silver quarters are in limited supply, or just they are expensive from the get go?

Do you have a link? I've searched the site but can't find this set.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

Pull them from circulation and stick them in an album (the kids and I have the Harris folders). If you're missing some, trade with others who have extras. It helps with remembering how simple and enjoyable coin collecting can be.
  • Here's the US Mint Link to the Proof sets:
