Buy It Now: HOLY CRAP! Someone got the deal of a lifetime on eBay with this one!

Sure wish I would have found this 1909 S/S Lincoln before the buyer did. I remember a thread a long time ago where someone asked if people ever found good deals in the Buy It Now... Aaargh I would loved to have found this auction!

    Certainly an error on the sellers part, Awhile back a longtime seller listed several better date gsa cc's with a buy it now of 1c for ea. coin.. I pulled the trigger.. image ; then informed him of his mistake image

    Sad thing is, I'm thinking about bidding on it since the guy it turning around and selling it as it. It's already at $100 though so it's already at my limit about. Damn I would have loved to have picked that one! The original seller didn't even list ANACS in the title!!!

    $8 was a great deal, $100 not so much. An anacs ms61bn 1909s/s rpm-1 sold for $260 on teletrade the other night.

    Wow. I'm guessing the seller meant to start them at 99c, not BIN them at 99c. Sometimes I think people outthink themselves on eBay...

    Perhaps the buyer e-mailed the seller & made an offer or asked what the "best price" to end it was & the seller changed the price to keep it on eBay but avoid the bulk of the final value fees???

    As for the market value, I'd also guess around $100-125. More than an S/Horizontal S since it is RPM#1 (FS-012.2) & not RPM#2 (FS-012.3), which is rarer by about a magnitude of 10-25 or more (RPM#1 that is).

    I see that happen quite a bit on E-Bay, though it usually doesn't last long. A while back I was looking to get a 1/10th ounce Platinum coin and found a BIN on a 1/10th oz Chinese Panda for only $70.00. I immediately clicked the BIN and purchased the coin for a total of around $78.00 which was $5 or so under spot. Since I always pay immediately when a seller offers PayPal, the seller didn't get a chance to notify me that it was a mistake. Apparently he said that the BIN was supposed to be $170 but he made a typo in the listing. He admitted to his own mistake, however, and said that he should have checked his listing before submitting it and that he'll hold up his end of the deal and sell it for $78.00 total. Great seller. I wish I could remember his name.
    I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

    A few years back i used to keep Ebay up and filter only buyitnow/newly listed. I got some real nice deals as they were listed. It took a lot of time but once a week or so Id get some real nice deal like an AU58 $3 in an old PCGS holder , bought 1500, sold as MS62 for 2800. MS65 Gettsburg bought for 390 etc

    It just took a lot of my night but if you like coins , its a lot of fun too.

    Agreed. Ripping a $100 coin is hardly the deal of a lifetime.

    The guy who paid a couple hundred bucks for a lot of a couple dozen old coins that included an 1860-O dime which later graded PCGS AU-58... THAT was the rip of a lifetime.
