Knowing NGC I'd say they gave it a 2.

<< <i>1. can you see a date on it?[/qNo. The date is completely worn off yet NGC did grade and holder it.

I actually purchased this one from Bowers and Merena off their website. It was already holdered when I did so.

I love these worn coins and would consider starting a collection but nobody here can tell me that this thing got like this as a pocket piece. Slot machine maybe, but really?? I've been carrying around an Ike for a while now and it looks no different. How do they get slabbed?

Poor 1, if they grade coins without dates.

    Is the date even readable??
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Didn't know they graded undated coins unless the date could be positively identified by some unique feature that can be ascertained by what's left.

I don't suppose this gets entered into the pop reports if they can't assign a date to it? image

Isn't PR 'Poor' according to NGC? PF is Proof.

The story I was told: This Ike was submitted under the 'error' tier along with other error coins. The submitter thought it was a die trial set up coin. It simply ended up as being considered extremely worn and was holdered as such.

I also received a polite email informating me after I wrote NGC regarding this Ike, NGC's policy will remain not to holder coins without a date where the date is the only way to identify when the coin was minted (unlike a Chain cent, for example).

This one squeaked by the graders over in the error department and was a fluke in getting holdered.

Still a fun coin and really does look like a die trial set up dollar and maybe one day will be.

NGC couldnt even get the Date?? That would make it BodyBag material at PCGS (I think)

The insert is wrong anyway....should read "1971-1974, 1977-1978" since we can tell it wasn't 1976 image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
