I won an Ebay auction last week for two 1973 Mint Sets and two 1974 mint sets this was enclosed with the sets when I received them........

It brought back some memories of the old days........... you know, before the Internet, Ebay and the like. You had to contact the US Mint to order mint and proof sets and you were limited to only 5 sets. There were also no guarantees on when you would receive them! (H-m-m, I guess this hasn't really changed!)

It also made me realize just how little the price of these Mints Sets have risen over the years. A 1974 set originally cost $6.00 and can now be had for a whopping $10 on a bad day! Between 6 and 8 bucks on a good day.

Not too much of an increase over 32 years!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

The name is LEE!

I think your documentation may be worth more than the actual coins image

Are you referring to the day's before 1960 or 1860? I figured you would have first hand knowledge either way.

Yeah, I loved the statement they used about how any defects were merely the distorted observations of the collector..... image

They weren't kidding about the several month delay before shipping. It was usually a six month minimum wait. The sets had to be paid for by check or money order, which was cashed immediately, and once placed the order could not be cancelled by the buyer only by the mint. And of course as already mentioned, returns? Forget about it.
