Coin Dealers in the Dallas/Ft Worth Area

I'll be in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for a several days next month and would like to visit a few coin stores while I'm there. I'd appreciate any recommendations you may have.

Thanks,

usarok

    Anaconda is in Dallas.
  • Lone Star Mint in, Plano TX
    Alamo Coins in Richardson, TX
    and of course heritage

There is one near FW, in Arlington TX, can't rmember the name, these are the 4 I go to and you can catch me at Alamo Coins, on Saturdays 10-3, PM me if you need more details.
  • Alamo on Arapaho? I used to stop by there on Saturdays when I was working in Addison. Good shop to stop by.
  • Arapaho and Custer
  • the one in Arlington is called Arlington coins - shoot me a PM and I'll give address and directions - I'm usually in there once or twice a month looking at buffs and foreign stuff. reasonable selection, reasonable prices.

Thanks to all who have responded. Your recommendations are appreciated!
  • Arlington Coins is a terrific place to shop. Mike Grant is the proprietor there. He's also opened a second shop in Haltom City just off Belknap.

Ron Swinney also has a little shop on the west side of Fort Worth that I can recommend. It is called Swinney's Coins. He carries nice collector coins at good prices there, too.

I have also done business with Fort Worth Coin Company on 7th Street. They specialize in bullion, but they have some coins, too.
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.
  • The best coin shop in the Dallas area IMHO is Arlington Coins. Mike has done a great job with it.

Heritage really doesn't have a retail presence.

  • Agreed. Arlington Coins is a great shop.
  • Do not try heritage. They will not let you in.
I made that mistake before, and the guy at the front was quite rude about it.

I would not recommend the Lone Star Mint in Plano. IMO they have a very limited selection of certified coins, and in my experience have been far less than friendly. I wish I could recommend an alternative, but I have yet to find a coin shop in the Dallas area I would give my business. I do all my shopping on the internet for that reason.

Edited to add: I have never been to Alamo or the shop in Ft. Worth (too far from me) so my comments should not reflect on those shops since I have no experience with them. I wasn't even aware of Alamo.

Mike Follett has a store in Dallas. Also, Ed Hipps has an office there, as well, but you would need to make an appointment to see him.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

If you are in the Dallas area and feel like stopping by, just give me a ring 1-800-440-8334 and we'll set something up.
