Opinion on Merc

I'm currently bidding on this auction. I'm trying to decide whether or not to place a higher bid. What do you guys and gals think? It's already at or slightly above PCGS value, so I would probably have to take a gamble (if I was going to resell) that it would regrade higher.

Opinions?
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

During the period when this coin you are bidding on PCGS was rather tight with their grading. Even with that in mind they did see something that made the coin MS64 and probably would see the same thing now. PCGS always has been pretty tight when it comes to grading Merc Dimes. The upgrade potential is slim especially when you do not have a real good picture to look at or the coin in hand.

    Here is a 65 that I own.

If you really want the coin you may need to bid too high. For some reason, some of Mercury dimes go over the price guide. There are quite a few in which I have over paid just because. Good luck whatever you decide.

  • Ken,

That's a really sweet coin! I hope my 65 looks like that in hand. image

I'm probably going to let this one go, if it goes higher. There'll be other coins, and I want to see how my other auctions go before I go whole-hog into the idea of reselling.

  • I just changed my mind on it. I read the chart wrong. If it's worth close to what's on the chart, then I can bid higher and be safe. image
