OT Need Some Non-Collectable Canadian $20 Bills

I'm making a trip to Canada next month and would like to bring $40-$100 CDN with me over the border. Can anyone mail me some ordinaryCanadian twenty dollar notes? I'll either mail a check in advance or send a PayPal payment (plus I'll cover the PayPal fee). Please PM me if you can help me avoid the unspeakably high bank fees I'd have to pay here. Thanks.

I've made a few family trips to Canada before & always had with me travellers checks in Canadian funds from AAA - - is that an option? Otherwise, is the exchange rate at a Canadian bank all that bad? Would it exceed any payPal, etc fees?

I'd love to help, but all I ended up bringing back with me were some Loonies, Twonies, and assorted lesser loose change the last time.........

I've found that when going out of the country, plastic is your best friend. Credit cards work everywhere and you can withdraw cash from ATMs with your bank ATM card. I've also used US cash in Canada.

For the first time ever I was charged a 'currency exchange' fee for using my Master Card in Toronto last month. This was in addition to the exchange rate which was very much in favor of the bank.

Time to get a new bank/card.

If you live near a major airport you should be able to buy some at the current rate. They usually have a place to exchange money.
  • Depending on where you are going, if you are near a Casino, they will exchange the U.S. currency to CDN currency at what ever % and no fees....lol
    then just walk/run out

LOL thanks everyone. The local banks and the airport exchange place are all the same: $10-12 fee just for exchanging any amount, and then a very unfavorable exchange rate (off 7% or so) above that. Basically I just wanted to stuff a couple of 20s in my kids' Easter baskets before we hit the road the next day. image Looks like they'll get the thrill of exchanging currency in Canada...!

  • You really don't have to exchange your U.S. currency to CDN currency, all CDN store will give you close to the current Exchange rate.
As for the Casino remark....lol, what i meant was that get out of the Casino or you'd spend it there..... image
