Question for Linc-sperts

For some reason my great grandfather saved a roll of '62 P & D lincs. My father said he isnt sure why, but maybe there was something at that time that made him think they would be worth something one day. The question is, is there any reason anyone knows from the early to mid 60's that might have made him save them or was it just one man's choice with nothing significant from the times?

The roll and bag market peaked in 1964. The hobby was growing in leaps
and bounds and many people thought that the road to riches was to save
quantities of new coins. All the regular issue coins from 1954 to 1965 are
extremely common in MS-60 despite decades of these being released to
circulation or tossed into the melting pot.

There are some important varieties and gems can be tough for some of these.
