Poll: Which of those 2 $20 1904 do you like best?

I have shown those pics before and I apologize for those of you who've seen them already. I wanted to make that a poll.

If you were to sell one and keep the other one, which one would you keep? They both are graded MS64 by ANACS.

I took pics of the coins one after the other, in exactly the same position save for small irregularities in the shape of the holders. I then cropped the pics in order to present them side by side. Each pair corresponds to a different lamp position wrt the coin.

Miss Scarface (Coin A, with a small nick behind the nose) is on the left, and Coin B is on the right.

How about a reverse pic or two?

I didn't do the same process for the reverse, but I do have a couple pics:

Coin A - 2 pics of the reverse:

Coin B - 2 pics of the reverse:

  • I'd keep coin "B".....the ding on the nose of coin "A" is slightly distracting to me so I would keep the one without. If I saw them in hand I might change my mind but from what I can see in the image......

The vast majority of people say "sell coin A". What's interesting is that it might well be that coin A be the nicest of the two & yet the hardest to sell well, based on pics only. I need to show it to someone in person...

  • I didn't vote because they look durn close to me. If I could see them in hand I might be able to test my suspicion that coin B has a slightly better skin with more luster. I wouldn't send them to PCGS as you might end up with MS 63s.

I could not vote because none of the choices fit my thinking. I would sell both, and replace them with a DIFFERENT DATE PCGS/NGC coin. The 1904 is so common, it is a turn-off to many collectors.image

I understand your point, and I might end up doing that. However, thoise 2 coins came from my grandfather and right now I think I want to keep one as a memento.

Sounds like you know which one is nicer in hand, so the poll is only really indicating which picture is better.

Not really, I need to show them to a more experience collector.
