Rare Society of the Cincinnati eagle medal on eBay now, with original box

It's listed in a totally wacky category, but there is an extremely rare Society of the Cincinnati eagle medal on eBay now, closing in a few hours.

Stacks sold a similar piece a few months ago for $30,000, but that was a rare variety. They sold another one a year ago for $3,000. I don't know the rarity of this particular variety, but it's plenty rare enough that it should be appreciated when it does show up (and with the original box, yet!)

    $3,825.00 with 15 minutes to go! What was the society about?
  • It is a military society created for officers following the Revolutionary War.
    Membership is open to descendants of Continental Army and Navy officers who were original members, who died in service, or who joined in their lifetime. Membership passes by right through the eldest son of the eldest surviving son successively from the Original Member.
