Baltimore Buys...

Sorry for another Baltimore report - I went Sunday with my 2 year old and wife. We got there around 11:00am and it was totally dead with a lot of dealers already gone and others packing up. I walked by Gordon Wells Berg's table and saw an 1895o in PCGS 45 which is the highest grade that I could afford. He wasn't there so I tabled it to come back later. The I went by Smythe's table and picked up a nice 1894S in PCGS 62 - which is also the highest grade I can afford. Just before the show ended I went back by Berg's table and negotiated a KILLER price for the 95o and got it too. I think he was genuinely upset that he didn't look at the greysheet before quoting me a price. So I got 2 of the 3 coins I set out to get, in the exact grades I wanted! Both are now in my registry set which sailed from 44 to 35! (set)

I did notice that I lot of dealers were buying. I was offered great prices on many of the coins that I brought to trade - I just couldn't part with any of them.

My daughter participated in the coin-grab but with small hands she only got like 3 coins. The guy holding the bucket helped her out and threw in a LOAD of coins for her! He seriously hooked her up! She was playing with them all night - mostly weats and a bunch of foreign coins - over 50 coins in all! They were also giving the kids state quarters and unpunched penny planchets, which are really cool.

We all had a great time!

Nice Sunday report. I went Sunday once and although half the dealers had gone it was a very relaxed experience since it was so empty. The dealers that stayed were extra friendly and helpful. Sunday would be a great day to take family as you did. Many dealers pack up Saturday after lunchtime. Seems like you still did well finding 2 of the 3 coins you wanted and boosted your set.

All day Saturday they were asking dealers to contribute to the kids bucket because it had run dry. It's nice to hear that they must have stepped up so the Sunday crowd could enjoy it too. Way to go dealers - taking care of the future collectors!

We all had a great time!
That's what it's all about. These shows seem to keep getting better and better.
