Difference between Paypal on ebay and off ebay???

I see a lot of sellers now saying that they take paypal, but not to pay directly through ebay. Are the fees less if someone doesn't pay through Ebay??? I don't get that. Either take paypal or don't.

I also hate Vendio or auctionhelper or whatever.

Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

If you sell cheap stuff and go thru ebay and pay each item at a time, the seller gets charged the minimum fee for each transaction, so if you sell $2 items, the fees add up in a hurry. If you wait and he emails you an invoice, there's only 1 fee on the lot.

I see that a lot but I'm not sure if that answers your question.

kinda, I know that paypal charges a transaction fee, because I sell items on ebay. However, I don't understand if there is a fee difference when making paypal payment via ebay or via paypal. A person can go onto Paypal and send money to someone's else email address. Is sending the money to someone else's paypal account cheaper?

fees are the same on or off ebay. they may have a personal paypal account and take bank transfers but not debit or credit cards. ebay changed their policy a while back and said if you take paypal then you have to accept all forms of payment - basically eliminated sellers advertising paypal with a personal pay pal account as they had to take a credit card payment if it was sent to them - an upgrade to a business account and pay the fees. personal paypal accounts do not pay fees but can only accept certain types of payments.
