My ANACS "Net" (!!) 1918/17 Buffalo with Personality! ::READ: It's NOT Perfect!::

I've read with interest the 1918/17 Buffalo thread and it got me to seriously looking for one of these. Now, admittingly, even in low grade, these trouble free/problem free coins bring a ton of money. I knew I couldn't justify spending a grand on one where the date is barely visible. (I did see a GD06 or so, PCGS graded, on eBay for around that price but it looked like it had micro corrosion.)
I did happen upon this coin, shown below, and waited my turn to snipe it at the end of the auction. The date is 3D and strong. The corrosion is somewhat bothersome but I'd much rather have a "natural problem" (such as a coin burried in the earth) than a man made problem- such as acid etching or acid treated. I honestly think acid treated coins (those that don't show a date so the acid is applied to sort of 'bring up' the date) are next to worthless, although the market place, as of recently, is starting to shift on that same position and allow these to become somewhat acceptable as a cheap alternative to the real deal.
Here's mine, I just got it yesterday:
Again, I know it's not perfect- not by any stretch of the imagination (!) but the details are strong.
This coin does go to show you the power of this forum as this Buffalo was always an interesting variety to me but one I never sought after until I read the fascinating thread regarding these coins earlier in the week.

<< <i>MBT, I was wondering what your opinion is of the one Russ is selling1918/7-D Thanks-BigE >>
I doubt that Russell would sell such junk. Besides, his images are much better that those of that seller.
What do you think of the idea of cracking it out and carrying it around in your pocket for a year?
It looks like, with a little wear, it might be better looking.
It is what it is....may not be "pretty"
but it sure is damn RARE.

Just to clarify, 'Russell" is that seller.

Braddick: Sure beats the heck out of mine -- since I don't have one.
On a side note -- I like that ANACS holder with their blue logo insert a lot more than their new holders.
