I second that,...its a pain to the end user, and a oversight on "attention to minor details" from dealers,...geeze the removable ones are right next to the permanent ones in the store

A hair dryer, set on low, a little patience, some 'Goo-Gone' and presto! You'll be as good as new.

(Scratches may be removed using a number of suggestions given on this forum. Search under key word, scratches or removal.

I have found that only the most tenacious goo is able to resist a good rubbing with my thumb. After that, it's time for the Goo Gone.

A little acetone dissolves the glue residue. NOVUS polish works wondes on light scratches.

The Acetone doesn't damage the slabs at all?

I had decent results with my wife's nail polish remover.

Yeah, it's best not to smoke while removing the stickers!

Just dab a little cooking oil on the label and let it set and soak for awhile. The oil will dissolve the glue holding the label. Then the oil can be cleaned with soap and water. Acetone will etch slabs leaving a discolored spot. If left too long it can eat though the plastic.

Naptha is very high in hydrocarbons which evaporate very quickly. It's the substance that will AT coins in a heartbeat!

HUH??? Neither acetone nor isopropyl alcohol will tone coins when used to rinse them and both of those are way more reactive than petroleum distillates/hydrocarbons are. Personally I use hexane to get rid of label glue residue but that solvent is not readily available to most collectors. A dab of charcoal starter fluid on a kleenex shud work fine and if it doesn't then you aint doin it right.

Acetone and nail polish remover will melt the slabs! Use Goo-gone. It's safe and works great .

WD-40 is also a great sticker residue remover.

JB-80 is twice as nice but both stink. Who wants to smell WD-40 for days afterwards?

After getting rid of the goo- place slab in your oven with an onion on 100 degrees for 5 minutes..

No more wd40 or jb80 smell- just a cooked onion flavor.

I kind like doin it with onion and garlic.

Follow it up with some Windex to remove the stench.

...Then you have to smell the Windex... but it fades image

Put on a little Goo-Gone and then scratch through the sticker a few times with your fingernail. Let it soak, then use fingernail to scrape off the label pieces. Polish the slab clean and dry. Like Hunter says, "Works for me!".image

I'm almost sure he means stickers on the holder, not the coin.

DO NOT USE LIGHTER FLUID! It will eat the plastic and leave a haze.

I tried to state this with the posts I made. Using most solvents on plastic will give less than desired results!
