Wish I could supply the link--dont know how, but look up Goodacre and you will see the "Sale" Guy has 10 and only asking $2000 each BIN. I was originally thinking I would like to buy 10 for $2000, but anyone want just 1 for that bargain? LOL, dang, thats wishful thinking....

if you like sacs... sure it may be worth it..
but in this case.. you are buying a slab. plain and simple
unless there is something about that coin that makes it
different then its brothers and sisters.

There is.
Still overpriced though at 2K each. When I first stumbled upon the auction a couple of days ago I thought it was for all ten of them and almost tripped over myself until I quickly discovered it was a dutch auction.
thanks for clearing that up. i thought it was an ordinary sac
for the date in a fancy giveaway limited edition slab.

............................You're not just buying the the slab. They are Burnished Presentation pieces dated 2000 P similar to the 2000 D except in limited quantities and were handled better and presented to Glenna Goodacre. There were only 5000 issued. A true Sack collector would have one in his/here collection. They are now becoming quite expensive to own but are quite nice to say the least.................JMO............
<< <i>Out of line price IMHO, BUT, the editors of the Red Book did determine the coin was suitable for inclusion and have it now in the Red Book as a Presentation piece. Yet, the editors of the Red Book fail to include the 1976 NO S IKE DOLLAR Presentation piece in the Red Book (presented to President Ford and a few other govt. employees) and a coin of great historic importance? Frankly, I failed to follow Ken Bressett's explanation and wisdom on why the Goodacre should in the book and the 1976 NO S Ike Dollar not there. Oh well, heck, even the 1943 Copper cents are not in the Red Book yet - but, we all can "enjoy" seeing the Goodacre Sacs. there. Wondercoin >>
Mitch, even before the Red Book addition, had you asked 100 collectors, say at some random show if they'de heard of the Goodacre Sacagawea I'd have to imagine a good 60 or 70 would (probably more).
Ask the same question in regards to the 76 No S Ike dollar and I'd be surprised if 3 or 4 had heard of it.
That's the reason the Sac is in the Red Book and the Ike is not.
Sinn - You are probably correct that it takes some "politics" to get coins in the Red Book. I seem to recall reading here that one or more dealers have been politicing almost since the discovery to get the error WI quarters in the Red Book.
Meanwhile - the Goodacre dollar Presenation piece is now a fixture in the Red Book and, as such, expect the coin to garner serious collector interest IMHO.
