Post the coin that got you started in this great hobby...

... If you happen to still have it. If not, then tell us what coin it was. This is the one for me. It was my Dad's from when he was a teenager and I sent it to PCGS to get graded. I was certainly happy with the results, but I honestly feel it could grade higher (I know, same old song and danceimage). Let's see or hear about that first special coin.image

    This coin was carried by my Grandfather, my Father, and Myself while in military service.

    I've never bothered to scan it, but I still have it. It was a 1936 Merc dime. Grades about VG-ish, I'd say.

    Found it when I was ten and a half years old, in the sideboard where my grandmother kept her silverware. I was setting the table- it was Thanksgiving Day, 1976. The coin was forty years old- it seemed incredibly old to me at the time.

    Now I'm as old as it was then.
