For under $1000 each what finest (tied ok) slabbed NGC/PCGS items is available in which the total NGC and PCGS pop is less than 20 COMBINED?
I am not talking about coins in which they have not yet slabbed many yet since it is so new.

But here is one I purchased yesterday at B&M Auctions for $862.50,
BG-1003 which is the 1859 California Fractional 50c round Liberty obverse. PCGS MS-63 pop 3 (SEE CHANGE BELOW) none graded finer. Grand total pop is 11 for PCGS and NGC COMBINED. One of the other 2 MS-63's is the Jay Roe piece (shown below) which sold for $805 in 2003.
UPDATE: POP in MS-64 is now 4 but grand total pops remains 11 so I assume one of the MS-63 was upgraded to MS-64.
The plate coin for the second edition of Breen-Gillio. Tied with two (NOW THREE) other examples as finest of nine examples graded by PCGS.
Maker: Frontier, Deviercy & Co.
Edge: Crudely reeded.
Reverse: Same as BG-1001.
PCGS Population: 4; none finer.
But does seem like a RIP !
My POP 22 coin is !
Surprise ! 1957 Lincoln in PR68 CAM
Bout 9 % of the POP
<< <i>ChangeinHistory: Perhaps we should raise the bar on CWT and Cal Fractionals and limit the total pop to 15 and see how many still qualify. >>
I can see your point. It really makes that $1000 limit tough. Some of the higher grade R-7-9 CWT's are passing a grand with no problem.....
