Came in the mail today . image Dealer says its a " Monster " DMPL . wants $2400.00 for it . Have allready told him ain't no way . He says he does not have much fudge room . Sure hate to send this sucker back !! Mirror fields , great strike , but just enough contact marks on the cheek to keep her at MS 64 . This sucks !!

  • Write the guy a very polite thanks-no thanks. He really seemed to be legitimately confused when you said no on the other GSA.... but not on the CC. As for the 1885CC--Don't buy from this blood-sucker (in my opinion)!! The sheet is $1450 and I saw a BUNCH of 1885CC DMPLs go through the auctions in Baltimore. I really don't recall more than a few bidders being interested in one or 2 of them (others no saled or sold to a computer bid). In PQ MS64DM these are nice coins, but at big auctions there are plenty around---the dealers need to sell them, you can wait!. I'm not advising you bid sight-unseen.. but really in 64DM I'd be astonished a top dmpl dealer can't find you one for 5% over bid plus the auction fee.( and way less than $2000)--good luck image

  • Doug, listen to morgannut2 he is telling you like it is. that is way to much money for that coin. I know I told you to prop up Morgan CC prices but that is too much support.image

image Very sound advice . This is why this dealer has had this coin for such an extended period of time . No one wants it at his price . Hope he does not mind a little Wee-Wee in his cheerios come Monday morning . image

85-CC (most CC dates too) is not a rare coin as I am sure you know. Nice ones with greta appeal are not all that rare. If you are not comfortable with the price, pass on it as there will certainly be future opportunities.

As far as his fudge room is concerned, talk to a few dealers who have been in business for more than 25 years about the coins they had inventoried when the market busted on them. Paying too much is everyone's risk. Let it be his and not yours.
