O.T. ? Ebay Seller's, Why do some not offer Ins.??

BTW: The thread Ajaan posted about selling on eBay was excellent.image

Thanks. Does it say not offered in the listing? I would send the seller a message and ask if you can get the item sent insured. If the item is from overseas, insurance may not be available.

  • I hate when insurance isn't offered. I'd rather not take the risk depending on the postal service.
I've told some buyers I'd like my item insured. Even can you ship it to me priority, I'll pay the extra.
  • Thank you Ajaan, I don't usually don't buy much oversea's stuff, But yes, Where it say's Shipping Insurance "Not Offered", I really hadn't thought of asking them??? DUH, on my behalf....... But it would seem that seller's would want to cover their tail's, I don't want to have to eat my losse's. I've found some pretty nice "Darkside" coin's i would like to buy. But won't touch it if they don't offer ins. or accept paypal. I also don't care to buy from someone who direct's you to a different "Checkout" page.

    Thanx,

There are some funny things with eBay listing program and the Shipping Insurance "Not Offered" is one of them. I sold a couple gold coins on eBay. The buyer went to pay for the auction before I sent an invoice. When he went to pay eBay said there is no shipping charge. NOT TRUE. Other times it has said Insurance not offered, when it was.

Sometimes this has to do with the often confusing and contradictory settings in (1) Turbo Lister (2) Seller's Manager, and (3) Ebay Preferences. If you're not careful you can end up showing charges and options you had no clue were there. That's why it's doubly important to check listings after they are posted.

I disable all of the autocalculation crap, select "flat rate shipping" and put a note to "See listing for shipping and payment information." That avoids most problems.

The auctions could be like mine - I include insurance in the shipping costs and have a message that insurance is NOT optional - sometimes I eat it on the shipping but I'd rather do that then have someone try and stiff me on not receiving the item...

Me too. I insure anything worth insuring, and know I just include it in the shipping price.
