should I feel guilty about slashing open mint sets

to feed my dansco ? (it was only 2)

image I know I could have procured the coins individually, or just pulled them from circulation..but I got impatient.

I guess that's what makes me a novice collector, as opposed to a dealer, who would have somehow cherry picked the nice coins out of the set, somehow repackaged them, and resold them
with a COA from some other set....

That's a tough choice to open them up.I usually open one set myself. As a collector it's nice to put them in your own respecive holders....Maybe like you say ...You put them in a Dansco. That's fine too. That's what's nice about coin collecitng...We each do things a little bit different but share the same experience............JMHO...............................................image

About ten years ago, I slashed one of each 1965 to 1994, and also the 1996 to complete all my modern dansco albums. I dont feel guilty....

There are almost no home made mint or proof sets on the market. I've seen only a few fake envelopes or packets.

If God didn't want these sets destroyed, He wouldn't have made the sum of the parts worth more than the whole. image
